Dr. James Kelly embarked on his journey in the field of optometry with a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1987, and later obtained his Doctorate in Optometry from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, in 1991. His comprehensive training included valuable internships at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Danville, IL, and the Medical Clinic at Fort Ord Army Base in Monterey, CA, with specialized rotations in Low Vision, Sports Vision, and Pediatric Care/Visual Therapy at Indiana University clinics. In 1993, he achieved certification in the Medical Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Disease from the Illinois College of Optometry.

Dr. Kelly has cultivated a deep connection with the community in Glen Ellyn, IL, where he practiced as an independent leasing doctor in a corporate optical setting for a decade and was honored as Chicago-Area Doctor of the Year in 2001. His dedication to his patients was recognized once again in 2012 when he was voted Glen Ellyn's "Best Optometrist" by the readers of Glen Ellyn News. His commitment to challenging cases has been featured in national optometric publications, earning him a loyal patient base extending even beyond Illinois.

Known for his personalized care, Dr. Kelly believes in treating each patient with utmost importance, a philosophy that has endeared him to many and fostered strong ties with medical professionals in the region, leading to a practice enriched with referrals from a wide array of healthcare providers.

With a talent for making eye exams a positive experience for children, Dr. Kelly is renowned for his approachable and engaging manner with the younger patients. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Kelly enjoys an active life in Wheaton with his wife and three daughters, participating in church activities and indulging in ice hockey and golf. He is a proud member of the West Suburban Optometric Society and is committed to community service, including providing eye care through the Willow Creek Care Center Eye Clinic and supporting the Glen Ellyn Lions Club in their mission to offer vision care to those in need. Dr. Kelly and his practice also contribute to environmental sustainability by collecting used spectacles, inkjet cartridges, cell phones, and hearing aids for the Lions.
