Q. What types of vision insurance do your accept directly?

A. We accept Spectera and Medicare.  We do accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO for MEDICAL problems like eye infections, glaucoma, cataracts, etc. If we do not accept your plan directly, MOST plans have an Out-of-Network allowance for reimbursement.  Don’t let your vision plan dictate who cares for your precious eyesight!  Many patients save money going out of network with us over staying in network and getting hit with “add-on” charges with others.

Q. Because you are a private doctor’s office, how do you compare with prices on professional fees, contacts, and glasses?

A. Our recent fee survey with the largest private practices in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Downers Grove, Pearle, LensCrafters, Wal-Mart, and 1800-Contacts, reveal that we are 20% less on thinner lenses than LensCrafters and Pearle. We are equal to or less than  Wal-Mart and 800-contacts on the most prescribed brands of contact lenses.  We are SIGNIFICANTLY more reasonable on professional fees than any of our local private competitors.

Q. How can you be so reasonable and still compete?

A. Our business model is set up for NOT relying on insurance to survive.  We have set up our office for out-of-pocket patients who do not choose the shell-game of vision insurance. We rely on word of mouth referrals and our patients communicating to others the VALUE of our practice for both good pricing and great service.

Q. What do you mean by “On-Site Lab”?

A. Our office has a lab to cut lenses for frames. We keep a large range of single vision   (non-bifocal) lenses in stock in regular polycarbonate and polycarbonate with antireflective coating, and high-index plastic with antireflective coating. Glasses can be cut in as soon as 10 minutes. Bifocal and specialty lenses can be ready anytime between the next day to one week.  We can even cut new lenses for your existing frame while you wait!

Q. What is your warranty on glasses and lenses?

A. We offer a single replacement 1 year warranty on breakage and scratches (excludes abuse).

Q. I have a coupon from LensCrafters and Pearle- aren’t they a better deal?

A. Likely no.  It’s easy to offer a coupon for $100 off when you’re $150 more expensive to begin with.  Also, Lenscrafter’s warranty is not 100% for a full year and Pearle’s is available at additional cost- it’s not part of the purchase price.

Q. I want to take my contact prescription online, do you release it?

A. Dr. Kelly has always released contact lens prescriptions.  We are in compliance with the federal contact lens release law.  Please remember, 1) Our prices are many times the same or better than online 2) We have practitioner only rebates available to further save you money, 3) We offer free shipping to your door with a one-year supply and 4) We will work with our patients to replace defective lenses or switch out prescription changes- we are all about service.
